Addiction recovery is a journey that requires therapy and a strong support system.

Sometimes people come to recognize that it is in their best interest to stop using.

Recovery from addiction is not as simple as to “just stop using”.

Many people have tried unsuccessfully to “just stop” with the best of intentions – only to find themselves surrendering to drink or use yet again. The problem for many is not whether they can STOP – but rather how to “STAY STOPPED”.

The truth is that when we have been diverted by an addiction, we have usually missed out on learning important coping skills. When we no longer want to use our addiction to cope, we have a lot to learn about how to do life differently so that we can SUSTAIN our recovery.

Many people benefit from support groups, like 12-step programs, because we get to learn together how to do life when sober. People who have not struggled with their own recovery often don’t grasp how much we need to learn.

Addiction is a formidable foe, but despite the difficulties and obstacles, there is a solid path to addiction recovery with the right supports in place. Therapy is at the center of this journey, giving us direction for creating a strong support system that allows you to start again with renewed hope and energy. It is so reassuring to have guidance as we walk through something new.
