Well-rounded mental health care is needed to ensure long-term success.

When it comes to human health, a well-rounded approach needs to be considered in order to ensure the physical, mental, and emotional sides are supported. This includes ensuring services are accessible for those struggling with substance abuse issues in the Chapel Hill, North Carolina area. At Serenity4U, you’ll find comprehensive mental health services with a focus on individuals and families working through addiction issues in a supportive and safe space.

Mental Health in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

To successfully deal with substance abuse, it takes more than just detox or abstinence programs. It requires well-rounded mental health services that not only offer support now, but also teach skills that can be called on later. This is because—more often than not—those struggling with substance use are also faced with feelings of sadness, anxiety, trauma, and more. This means efforts to treat substance use without considering its mental health aspect are like putting out a fire without finding its cause. Essentially, it’s only a short-term fix that probably won’t last.

This is why I work hard to address all issues with the same caring support. This is done by using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, behavioral interventions, psychodynamic theory, and more to ensure each client I work with gets individualized care.

Whether you’re dealing with substance abuse yourself or helping a loved one get better, comprehensive mental health services are an essential part of effective care. By taking a whole-person approach to treatment, I offer those struggling with addiction and mental illness a path to healing and hope.

How long have you been treating mental health issues?

I have been treating a wide range of mental health issues related to substance use for well over 25 years.

At what point do I need to begin therapy?

There is no singular sign or set of signs that indicate it’s time to start therapy. You might start therapy with me when you suspect you are on a path to a substance use disorder, when you are at a low point in your mental health, or when you are already on the path to recovery and want to fortify your efforts by implementing new strategies that work for you. Once you get on a path for positive change in your life, you might find that it isn’t a straightforward journey, but I am here to help individuals at many different junctures. Wherever you are on your journey, I will be here. You just need to make the decision.

How do I know if I’m an addict?
There are many signs that can help you recognize that you might have a substance problem. You may notice increased tolerance to the substance, meaning you have to use more of it or use it more often to experience the same effects you did before. You might try to reduce your substance use and find that you can’t cut back or stop – even though you want to. Your mind may be preoccupied with the substance, and you might feel as if you don’t have complete control over your life.
I’m worried about a loved one. Can you help them?
Many parents, spouses, and loved ones of struggling individuals have contacted me about my services, and I am here to help those who are willing.
