I offer comprehensive mental health services for individuals and families struggling with the effects of substance use.

About Linda, Chapel Hill, NCMy name is Linda, and I appreciate you taking the time to visit me as you search for the right therapist for you. I have dedicated more than 25 years to treating diverse mental health issues relating to substance use and recovery. It is never simple because we have each walked a unique journey.

I attended Bowie State University, gaining my master’s degree in Psychological Counseling, which led to being the Clinical Director of several residential addiction treatment facilities over the years. I also served as the Student Assistance Specialist at Chapel Hill High School for six years, completing substance abuse evaluations and referrals, as well as providing direction and support to at-risk students and their families.

Today, I work in the private sector, offering comprehensive, outpatient mental health services that are influenced by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, behavioral interventions, psychodynamic theory, relational therapy, attachment theory, rational emotive therapy, and schema therapy.

In spite of my academic achievements, this work is not academic to me; it is personal.

I am the adult child of an alcoholic (ACOA), the recovering alcoholic/addict, the wife of the alcoholic, the sister of the alcoholic, and the mother of the alcoholic. I have had to do all this work myself first in order to be in a position to guide you. My experience gives me unique insight into the lives and struggles of my clients and enables me to provide them with understanding, empathy ,and guidance based on experience.

About Linda, Chapel Hill, NCThere are chapters to the work I do. My clients enter therapy with me at various junctures. Some clients come in order to simply better understand their relationship with alcohol or other drugs. Some come because family members ask them to. Some clients come because they have had enough and are ready for change. Some come because they are worried sick about someone they love (a child, a spouse or a parent). Some start after already attending residential substance abuse treatment and are investing in their continued success. Some recognize that their relationships with alcoholics or addicts have wounded them in some way, and they want to heal and learn about how to have healthier relationships. Some come when they are already sober but feel stuck emotionally or spiritually.

Regardless of WHY, I partner with them, and we focus on helping them first regain a healthy relationship with themselves, learn healthy coping skills, and more. We explore any historical trauma and/or mental health complexity and begin to put the pieces together.
